Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn’t The Wild Range Project a non-profit?

Because we want to move fast, avoid the red tape, and inspire people with what they love not with paperwork. Non-profits can (and do) incredible work, but they’re often slowed down by grant cycles, politics, and restrictive rules about how money can be used. We’re structured as a for-profit company so we can stay lean, act quickly, and focus on action over approval processes.

Being for-profit also opens doors to corporate sponsorships and brand partnerships, which can be major drivers of impact. Best of all, it lets us invite you into the story through cool experiences, like conservation vacations to the places we protect. Were also working on gear discounts, for brands you already love as a perk. You shop with purpose, and that purchase fuels more conservation. It’s a self-funding model that creates lasting impact, built right into your lifestyle. We believe people support what they experience. This model makes sure you get to do both.

I’d prefer to get a tax donation from my membership. Why isn’t it tax-deductible?

Fair question. While memberships aren’t tax-deductible right now, your dollars are still doing real conservation work not paying for policy staff or high overhead. And we’re not restricted in how we support the people doing the work.

That said, we partner with 501(c)(3) nonprofits on many of our projects. If a tax-deductible gift is important to you, just let us know. We’ll point you to a specific project where you can contribute directly through one of our nonprofit allies.

Who is this membership for?

This is for anyone who’s tired of watching wildlife and good land stewardship lose ground while people argue.

Its For:

  • People who love the Rocky Mountain West and want to protect what’s left.
  • Nature lovers who are done with “someday politics” and want to see results now.
  • Families who want their kids to know what real conservation looks like.
  • Ranchers, landowners, and outdoor pros who want to lead from the land itself.

And honestly?
It’s for everyday people just like you:

  • Hikers
  • Campers
  • Hunters
  • Ranchers
  • Fishermen
  • City dwellers
  • Country folks
  • People who eat food
  • People who breathe air

If you’re alive on this planet, you’re in the story, whether you know it or not.
So if you care deeply about land and wildlife, and you’re ready to help, you belong here.

Where does my $25/month actually go?

Your membership funds real, on-the-ground conservation projects, not vague awareness campaigns or political ads.

Each month, members vote on one of three vetted projects selected by our team and our trusted network of land and wildlife managers.
Once the project is chosen, your dollars go to:

  • Innovation and tangible projects: tools like innovative tech, and on the ground support.
  • Growing the network: of land managers so future projects stick and are far more effective.

We also set aside a small percentage to cover core operations so we can keep the momentum going,
without relying on grants or politics to stay afloat.

What happens if I cancel?

Totally fair to ask.
You can cancel anytime, no questions asked. No guilt trip. No awkward “please don’t go” emails.
Your support will still have funded the work already underway and you’ll still be part of the story.
If you decide to come back later, we’ll welcome you with open arms (and probably a dusty handshake).

Can I visit the places where Wild Range Project works?

Yes! and it’s one of the founding ideas behind the Wild Range Project.

Unlike most conservation groups that keep supporters at arm’s length, we believe you should be able to see and feel the impact you’re part of.
Many of the places we work are stunning private land, often near national parks or world-class areas to hike, ride, fish, or hunt.
While some projects are seasonal or remote, we’re building ways for you to get out there and experience it firsthand.

As a member, you'll have access to:

  • Guided field days
  • Volunteer trips
  • Exclusive member visits to key project sites
  • Conservation vacation experiences at partner ranches and wildlife sanctuaries

And for those of you who can’t break away from a busy schedule, we’ve got you.
We film each project so you can follow along from home and still feel connected to the work.
We’ll do our best to link you with a project near you or help plan a trip that puts your boots in the dirt and your eyes on the wild.
